Life

After an apprenticeship as a bookseller in Hanover (1990–1992), he studied German and philosophy in Hanover (among others with Chris Bezzel, the “discoverer” Peter Handkes), Vienna and Berlin. During his training as a bookseller and his studies, he regularly wrote literary reviews for various newspapers (including the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung , from 1995 for the Berliner Zeitung ).

In the last semester of his studies in Berlin, he wrote his first novel, Detours, Increase Local Knowledge , which made him known to a wider audience in 1998 and received great critical acclaim. After that he devoted himself exclusively to writing. Freischwimmer followed two years later , then Vom Stand der Dinge , into which Seidel incorporated his experience as a competitive swimmer (in the 80s he was the German record holder in marathon swimming, he swam 42 kilometers in 1985 and 43 kilometers a year later) and for which he did the Alfred Döblin - Scholarship received; followed by And all the time in the world . After completing his fifth book Satt (2003), Seidel withdrew from the literary business for the time being. He then occasionally wrote articles for various newspapers (such as in 2004 about a trip to Canada in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and in 2006 about a writing seminar for Die Zeit ) and in 2008 wrote the book for a movie under a pseudonym ( Die Briefe der Josefine Eylandt ).

Seidel has been running an agency for ghostwriting and proofreading in Hamburg since 2005 . In 2011 he founded the text agency “plagiarism cleanup”, which the media (e.g. Tagesthemen and NDR Aktuell ) reported on - sometimes critically. Since the end of 2015 he has been producing audio books for private customers in his agency “Meine-beste-geschichte.de”. In 2016 he also founded mein-comic.com, an agency that produces individual comics for private customers and companies. In February 2016, “From people who lose their glasses and buy a Porsche” (novel) was published as an ebook.

In 2018 his short story book "Hasen, die Haken" was published by the publishing house "Literatur-Quickie" (Hamburg).
