Markus Trunk

Markus Trunk (* 1961 ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Markus Trunk studied classical archeology, ancient history as well as prehistory and early history at the University of Münster from 1980 to 1989 and was there with a thesis on the topic of Roman temples in the Rhine and western Danube provinces. A contribution to the architectural-historical classification of Roman sacred buildings in Augst is doing his doctorate. For this work he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute in 1990/91 , with the help of which he was able to travel to the Mediterranean . From 1990 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the University of Münster, and from 1996 to 2001 a research assistant at the Madrid department of the German Archaeological Institute . In 2002 Trunk completed his habilitation at the Humboldt University in Berlin with the thesis “Casa de Pilatos” in Seville. Studies on the collection, installation and reception of ancient sculptures in Spain in the 16th century . Since the winter semester 2003/04 he has been teaching as professor of classical archeology with a focus on Rome and its provinces at the University of Trier .
