Markus Tubbesing (born April 12, 1973 in Munich ) is a German architect , monument conservator , architectural historian and university professor for design and monument conservation at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Markus Tubbesing grew up in Singapore (1979–1986) and Japan (1986–1990) and in 1992 completed the International Baccalauréat at the European School in Munich . He then studied architecture at the ETH Zurich and graduated in 1998 with a Dipl. Arch. ETH. He received the Hatt-Bucher Architecture Prize for his diploma thesis. He began his professional career as a project manager in the architectural office of Hans Kollhoff in Berlin (1999–2003) and Rotterdam (2003–2005) and was then a design assistant and research assistant in the “Architecture of the City” laboratory at ETH Zurich . From 2008 to 2011 he was a scholarship holder of the SNSF-Pro * Doc graduate college "Art & Science" and assistant at the chair for architectural history and monument preservation at the University of Bern , as well as senior assistant in the laboratory "architecture of the city" at the chair for architecture and construction at ETH Zurich. In 2012 he became a senior scientist and senior assistant at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich. In 2014 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the University of Bern at the Chair of Architectural History and Monument Preservation with the dissertation "The Greater Berlin Competition 1910". In the same year he became a senior scientist at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture at ETH Zurich. In 2018 he was appointed professor for design and monument preservation at the FH Potsdam .
