Markus Villiger

Markus Villiger (born December 3, 1933 ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ), managing director and journalist.


Markus Villiger worked for the Guber quarry in Alpnach for 28 years , including twelve years as managing director, while also working as a freelancer for the Lucerne daily newspapers and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung . From 1 March 1987, he was business editor at the Luzerner Tagblatt and in the Luzerner Zeitung , from 1993 editor of the new newspaper Obwaldner and then from 1994 to 1998 editorial director at Obwaldner weekly .

From 1981 Villiger was board member and president of the Obwaldner Kantonalbank . He was president and vice-president of several Obwalden associations and Obwalden sections of national associations.

Villiger was politically active for the Liberals . He was a local councilor in Alpnach for 15 years and a member of the Obwalden cantonal council , which he presided over in 1982/83.
