Marla is a small town of 100 people in South Australia . The place is 400 kilometers from Alice Springs . It can be reached on the Stuart Highway or by air on an airstrip. Marla is on the Central Australian Railway . The Ghan long-distance train stops twice a week for two hours only on the journey north.
The settlement is often used as a stopover for overnight stays on the way to Uluṟu or Alice Springs. Marla can be reached from Coober Pedy on the Stuart Highway or from Oodnadatta in the outback on the Oodnadatta Track .
