Marlies Sieburg

Marlies Sieburg (born November 18, 1959 in Buir ) was the mayor of the city of Kerpen in the Rhein-Erft district , North Rhine-Westphalia, with around 64,000 inhabitants .

After graduating from high school in 1978 at Rurtalgymnasium in Düren , she studied mathematics and computer science at RWTH Aachen University until 1985 . She graduated as a mathematician .

She then worked as an application consultant for a company in Aachen for about six years . In 1991 she moved to Sparkasse KölnBonn , where she was responsible for controlling applications.

From 1984 to 2004 Sieburg was a city ​​councilor . From 1994 she was deputy parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the city council for ten years . She was also mayor of her hometown Buir from 1994 to 1999 .

From October 2004 to October 20, 2015 she was full-time mayor of the city of Kerpen. So that she could take over this job, she was given leave of absence from the Sparkasse for five years without any pay.

On August 26, 2014, she announced that she did not want to run for another term for health reasons.
