The Marquis of Kensington was an English studio project by then manager of the Kinks , Robert Wace, and producer Mike Leander in the late 1960s . While Wace made his voice available for the vocals, Leander was the only figure of the Marquis on the record sleeves. Three singles were released under the project name. The Changing of the Guard went on 30 September 1967 in the German singles chart and made it to number 32. The song also appeared on the soundtrack of the film Tonite Let's All Make Love in London by Peter Whitehead of 1967. With this piece came she also performed in the Beat Club , which was her only live performance.

The B-side of the first single, the instrumental piece Flash , was the theme music of the TV series VIP-Schaukel and was often played as background music on radio programs, e.g. B. during the presentation of current hit parade lists. This piece was shortly after its creation by the Italian artist Mario Battaini under the pseudonym The Duke of Burlington gecovered . This version hardly differs from the original, but is about 30 seconds longer (3'34 ”). In 2008, "Flash" appeared in a demo version of the German electrical project Electric Source on the MySpace website in a big beat / dub mix, various other cover versions can be found on relevant platforms such as YouTube .
