Huancavelica , at approximately 3660 meters above sea level, is the capital of the Huancavelica region in the Peruvian Andes . In 2017 it had 34,655 inhabitants. 49,570 people lived in the metropolitan area.
The city is the seat of the Diocese of Huancavelica .
