The VIP swing was a TV series in which the Austrian journalist Margret Dünser reported on high society celebrities around the world and talked to them. The series was directed by Edgar von Heeringen .

The first edition was broadcast on May 9, 1971 on ZDF . At the beginning with a broadcast time of 60 minutes, this changed to 45 minutes from 1973. At peak times, 20 to 30 million viewers saw the program. The last program in the series was broadcast on May 9, 1980. At this time, Margret Dünser was already in a hospital in Basel with cancer . There she wrote and spoke the last off-texts for the show with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman . On June 5, 1980, she succumbed to cancer.
It is noteworthy that Margret Dünser traveled around the world by plane for the program despite her fear of flying . Because of the many air travel, she got the nickname Düsen-Dünser . She was fluent in English , French and Italian . The discussions took place in a private atmosphere , mostly at home with their guests. The spectrum of guests ranged from the nobility like Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands or the Thai royal couple Bhumibol and Sirikit to actors like John Wayne , Rita Hayworth or Robert Redford , artists like Salvador Dalí to business people and celebrities of the 1970s.
Based on the title, the ZDF , among others , broadcast the WIB-Schaukel program hosted by Wigald Boning from 2002 to 2004 .
