Eva Renzi

Eva Renzi (* 3. November 1944 in Berlin as Evelyn Hildegard Renziehausen ; † 16th August 2005 ibid) was a German actress .

Life

After Renzi had earned a living as a model, hostess and operator, she took acting lessons and played her first roles in the theater . She later appeared in numerous films in Germany, Switzerland , France and the USA .

Director Will Tremper discovered her for the feature film and gave her the lead role in Playgirl in 1966 , with which she became famous as the new glamor girl in Germany and celebrated as a mixture of Ingrid Bergman and Julie Christie . Even Hollywood took notice, and so they played in the 1967 final in Berlin ( Funeral in Berlin ) alongside Michael Caine . In the following year he played a role alongside James Garner : The Pink Jungle . This is followed by roles in Taste of Excitement (1971), Das Messer (1971), in the US television series Primus - Danger Under Water and in the Tatort: ​​Kressin and the Dead Man in the Fleet and in Rainer Erler's Das Blaue Palais (1976). She was also seen in various French and Italian films.

In 1970 she made the short film Professor Siebzig und seine Undine with her husband Paul Hubschmid in the lead role, her only film as a director.

The politically active actress caused a sensation in the 1970s when she reported negative experiences with the Osho movement after traveling to India for several months . She accused the guru of drug abuse. Between 1976 and 1986 she only played one role in Germany in the movie Manuel / Jäger des Herzens (1982) directed by Peter Obrist and only two more, namely in the French series Papa Poule (1980-1982) and in Ein kleine Luder (OT: La fille prodigue ), a film by Jacques Doillon with Michel Piccoli and Jane Birkin .

She hit the headlines again after she was said to have named the patron of Federal President Karl Carstens an "old Nazi " as an ensemble member during the Bad Hersfeld Festival in 1983 . She was then released; however, the stage arbitration court at the Frankfurt Labor Court later revoked the dismissal because the statement was to be regarded as "not proven".

At the end of the 1980s, the television series Waldhaus (1987) and Das Erbe der Guldenburgs made a kind of comeback on German television. A guest appearance on Balko in 1995 was her last television appearance. Years later she successfully returned to the theater.

Born in Berlin, she was married to the Swiss actor Paul Hubschmid from 1967 to 1980 , with whom she played several times. The two formed the dream couple in German-language film of the late 1960s. Renzi is the mother of actress Anouschka Renzi .

Eva Renzi died on 16 August 2005 at age 60 in Berlin to lung cancer . Her grave is on Luisenfriedhof III of the Protestant Luisenkirchen community in Berlin-Westend .
