Margret Dünser

Margret Dünser (born July 27, 1926 in Dornbirn , Vorarlberg , † June 5, 1980 in Basel ) was an Austrian journalist who mainly dedicated her work to high society .

Life

She attended a convent school at her birthplace. After the Second World War , she worked as an author and speaker at the ORF -Landesstudio Vorarlberg. In 1954, at the age of 28, she became the first female program director. A series of intrigues led the successful young journalist to jail on short notice. She was fully rehabilitated but left Austria and moved to Germany .

From 1963 on, Dünser worked for ZDF and hosted the VIP swing 37 times from May 9, 1971 to May 9, 1980 . Between 1966 and 1970 she already moderated 13 episodes from London aktuell , Rom aktuell and Paris aktuell, which are regarded as predecessors. The show, in which she interviewed numerous celebrities from around the world in her private environment, was seen by 20 to 30 million viewers. Directed by Edgar von Heeringen .

Despite a lot of air travel due to international and transcontinental dates, which earned her the nickname "Düsen-Dünser", Dünser suffered from severe fear of flying. She herself described them as "flying cigar tubes".

Margret Dünser died on June 5, 1980 in Basel to cancer . Her grave is in Dornbirn, Markt Friedhof.
