family
Michael Prince of Prussia was born as the second son of Louis Ferdinand of Prussia in Berlin-Wilmersdorf . His father was a grandson of the last German Emperor Wilhelm II , his mother Kira Romanowa a great-granddaughter of the Russian Tsar Alexander II and a great niece of Tsar Alexander III. There was a relationship between von Prussia and the British Queen Victoria via Wilhelm II as well as Alfred von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha . He was also an uncle of Georg Friedrich von Prussia , the current head of the House of Hohenzollern.
Live and act
Towards the end of the Second World War , his family had to flee from Cadinen in East Prussia and settled in the Borgfeld district of Bremen , where von Prussia grew up.
After studying in Freiburg and spending several years in the USA, he first worked in New York and later in Berlin as a sales representative for the American airline Pan Am . Professionally, various activities followed in the financial sector , in PR and in the hotel industry, including as a member of the sales department of the Maritim Hotelgesellschaft . In the 1980s, he and his wife Brigitta moved to Mallorca for nine years , where he worked in advertising for large companies.
Von Prussia was married to Jutta, nee Jörn (* 1943) from 1966 to 1982. His two daughters Micaela and Nataly come from this connection. In 1982 he got a second marriage with Brigitta, née von Dallwitz-Wegner (1939-2016). Both of his marriages are considered unequal under house law . The family-internal regulations led to disadvantages for him in terms of inheritance.
In 1986 he published the autobiography "To Be a Prussian Prince". From 2008, historical works and numerous participations in events on the history of the Hohenzollern family followed.
Von Prussia last lived in Thanheim in the Zollernalb district , which is located near the Hohenzollern Castle . Two years after his death, his second wife died by suicide .
