Marten Töwe

Marten Töwe (* 1983 in Neubrandenburg ) is a former German American football player.

career

Töwe practiced the sports of judo , soccer and basketball , in 2000 he came to American football and played for the Hamburg Blue Devils .

From 2002, the 2.05 meter tall Töwe played for the men's team of the Blue Devils. He won the German championship twice (2002 and 2003) with the Hanseatic city. In the summer of 2014, he went to the United States , where Töwe became a member of the college team at the University of South Florida . For the 2005 season he returned to the Blue Devils. In 2007 he was on the field for the Hamburg Eagles , in 2008 again for the Blue Devils.

In 2009 Töwe , who was used as an offensive lineman , switched to the Braunschweig Lions and wore the colors of Lower Saxony in the 2009 and 2010 game years. In November 2010, Töwe discovered a substance on the NADA prohibited list in a doping test . He was initially banned for four months, but acquitted because Töwe had registered the use of the medically prescribed drug with NADA and had received the corresponding approval. In 2011 he was in the service of the Düsseldorf Panthers . For the 2012 season he moved to the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes . In 2012 he was German runner-up with Kiel. After the 2014 season, he ended his playing career.

Töwe won third place with the German national team at the 2007 World Cup. In 2010 he became European champion with Germany.

After the end of his playing days, Töwe moved to the sideline and from 2015 became involved as a coach in the youth division of the Hamburg Blue Devils.
