Martha Schwartz

Martha Schwartz (* 1950 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania) is an US -American landscape architect and university teacher. It has offices in Cambridge , Massachusetts and London under the name Martha Schwartz Partners . Schwartz teaches as a professor of landscape architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design .

life and work

Schwartz studied landscape architecture at the University of Michigan , where she received her master's degree in 1977. She then completed postgraduate studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Design .

In her work, the focus is on projects of a metropolitan dimension and the exploration of new forms of design in the landscape. She pursues the aim of developing landscape design solutions that blur the boundary between landscape, design and art.

Schwartz was married to the landscape architect Peter Walker and shared an office with him. For her projects she worked a. a. with the architects Philip Johnson , John Burgee Architects, Mark Mack and Arata Isozaki .

Martha Schwartz has received numerous prizes and awards for her work.
