The property was built as a branch to the neighboring building, the Ballinghaus spa hotel run by Bad Kissingen spa doctor Franz Anton von Balling . The building in the classical style with a flat hipped roof originally had only two floors.

The presence on the Kissingen cityscape of the Biedermeier period expresses the status of the property as a traditional accommodation facility of the place.

In the second half of the 19th century the building was extended.
