history

Martin-Luther-Straße is congruent with the old arterial road that began at Theaterplatz, running around the old town square, crossed the Franconian Saale at today's connecting bridge between Arkadenbau and Luitpoldbad , led through today's Luitpoldpark , merged into today's Bismarckstraße and into the lower one Saale valley led.

With the expansion of the spa facilities under King Ludwig I , the long-distance traffic function of Martin-Luther-Strasse was transferred to Ludwigstrasse ; Martin-Luther-Strasse became the transverse axis of the new Kurviertel.
