Ludwigstrasse (Bad Kissingen)
The Ludwig Street is located in Bad Kissingen , the district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen and is home to several monuments of the town .
history
The street is named after the Bavarian King I. Ludwig named. During his reign, the old town of Kissingen was de-fortified and the resort's spa district expanded, with the street being built in the 1830s. In the square street "ring", which replaced the former city wall in this context, Ludwigstrasse forms the southern spine. Due to its location between the old town and the spa district as well as the construction of the Ludwigsbrücke , Ludwigstraße developed into one of the town's main arteries. After the original development with individual, simple houses (mostly spa guest houses) in the Biedermeier style, Ludwigstrasse was transformed into a commercial street of urban character with closed development around 1900.
During the time of National Socialism , Ludwig Loewenthal and his son Willi Loewenthal (resident of Ludwigstrasse 5) and Selma Löwenthal (resident of Ludwigstrasse 11) were deported. Other victims of the Nazi regime lived at Ludwigstrasse 9 .
