The Martin Cirque is a 1.5 km wide and distinctive mountain basin in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Asgard Range , it is 3 km northwest of Mount Newall and occupies the south face of the Wright Valley between the Denton Glacier and the Nichols Ridge . The mountain basin lies at an altitude of around 850 m and is almost free of ice.
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1997 after Craig J. Martin, who was involved in construction and engineering projects from 1977 to 1987 at the Siple Station , the Amundsen Scott South Pole Station , the McMurdo Station and various research camps.
