Martin Crimp

Martin Crimp (born February 14, 1956 in Dartford , Kent ) is an English playwright .

Life

Crimp is the son of a railroad signal technician and grew up in York . He studied English literature at Cambridge . He has been writing pessimistic dramas since the 1980s, on which he worked closely with the director Katie Mitchell , radio plays , opera librettos and scripts. In 2007, for example, he wrote the screenplay for François Ozone's Angel - A Life Like a Dream .

He received the John Whiting Award for The Shoot in 1993 , but Attacks on Anne , premiered in 1997 at the Royal Court Theater , where contradicting claims of various people about the character and life of the absent main character, made him international Star.
