Martin Dorfner

Martin Dorfner (born December 22, 1783 in Hirschau ; † August 12, 1845 ibid) was a Bavarian restaurateur and politician.

After high school in Amberg, Karl Martin Dorfner studied law at the University of Landshut . In 1807 he finished his studies early because he was able to purchase the tavern "Zum Schwarzen Bären" and the estate of his aunt Maria Margareta Trösch in Hirschau for 4870 guilders. In 1808 Anna Maria von Diez married her first marriage. Six of the ten children died in the first few years of life. In 1826 he was married to Klara Proels, with whom he had four children. From 1818 to 1822 and from 1837 to 1845 he was mayor of the city of Hirschau. From February 1819 to 1822 he was a member of Class V in the Chamber of Deputies of the first elected Bavarian Estates Assembly. From 1829 until his death he was also a member of the district administrator ofRain circle . Dorfner was considered moderately liberal. His brother Florian was also a member of parliament. Martin Dorfner, as one of the four founders, owned a quarter of the Hirschauer stoneware factory from 1826 to 1833. In 1840 he and two partners built a kaolin slurry.
