Martin Eugen Beck (born November 24, 1833 in Herrnhut ; † June 6, 1903 there ) was a German paramourer .

Life

Martin Eugen Beck belonged to the Moravian Brethren . He was originally a potter and made stoves.

From around 1865 he turned to the design of parament on his own initiative and under the influence of Moritz Meurer . In 1867 he published the first sample sheets . At the end of the 19th century, his designs were considered exemplary for Protestant parament and were decisive for the work of the Protestant parament workshops until the first quarter of the 20th century. It was not until the 1920s that his visual language was replaced by the symbols and principles of Rudolf Koch .
