Martin Exner

Martin Exner (born April 10, 1951 in Linz am Rhein ) is Director of the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health and Managing Director of the Center for Infectious Diseases and Protection from Infections at the University of Bonn .

He studied medicine in Bonn, took off his state examination in 1976 and was the work contributions to the state of knowledge of the risks in public baths for hygiene reasons for MD PhD . In 1976/77 he was a medical assistant, 1977/78 medical officer in the basic military service and from 1978 to 1986 scientific assistant at the Institute for Hygiene at the University of Bonn. In 1983/84 he was a ward doctor for internal medicine at the local medical clinic. In 1985 he completed his habilitation in the subject of hygiene with the thesis The microbial colonization of pipe, hose and catheter systems - for the development and control of biofilms .

From 1986 to 1988 Exner was head of the epidemic and environmental hygiene department at the health department in Cologne and then managing director at the Hygiene Institute in the Ruhr area. In 1994, as the successor to his doctoral supervisor, he was appointed full professor and director of the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health at the University of Bonn.
