Martin Fratz (* 1965 in Düsseldorf ) is a German conductor , pianist and music teacher .

life and career

Martin Fratz received his training at the Cologne University of Music as well as at the International Bach Academy Stuttgart and at the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council in Hanover. After completing his studies in orchestral conducting and piano, he was Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein , Düsseldorf / Duisburg, from 1992 to 2009 , where he conducted an extensive opera, operetta, musical and ballet repertoire. Since 2002 he has had regular concert engagements with the opera's two orchestras, the Düsseldorf Symphony and the Duisburg Philharmonic .

As a guest conductor, Martin Fratz u. a. at the opera houses of Leipzig , Cologne , Weimar and Lucerne as well as with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra , the mdr Chamber Philharmonic, the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla , the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra , the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the New Westphalia Philharmonic, the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra and the German Chamber Academy Neuss and has made guest appearances at the Brühl Castle Concerts, the Düsseldorf Festival (Altstadtherbst), the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, the Festival de Bretagne and the Ruhr Festival. Since 2006, Martin Fratz has conducted the finals and award winners concert of the Aeolus International Wind Competition in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf. He is also successful as a conductor in the crossover area and has worked with artists such as Anke Engelke, Roy Hargrove, Etta Scollo and Richard Galliano

In 1993 Martin Fratz was awarded the City of Düsseldorf's Music Prize. Since 1996 he has also been a lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen . He is also active as a song accompanist, organist , arranger and choir director.
