Martin Gerike

Martin Joachim Gerike (born November 8, 1930 in Danzig -Langfuhr; † January 8, 2017 in Hamburg ) was a German shipbuilding engineer .

He was a member of the committee of the banking fraternities of the Danzig Artushof in Lübeck.

Gerike was the holder of the Golden Cross of the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland in recognition of his long and tireless commitment to the German-Polish rapprochement and reconciliation between the two peoples. The Cross of Merit in Gold is the highest distinction awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland in recognition of special services to German-Polish relations. Gerike was also the holder of the St. Adalbert Medal of the city of Gdansk, besides being an honorary citizen, it is the highest distinction of the trading metropolis on the Baltic Sea.

Since his studies at the Technical University of Braunschweig he was a member of the Corps Marchia Braunschweig.
