Martin Hömberg
Martin Hömberg (* 1949 ; † 2017 ) was a German composer , ensemble leader, music producer , sound designer and specialist book author.
Life
Hömberg studied musicology at the University of Cologne and then worked for WDR , where in 1987 he worked as the author and presenter of the six-part educational television series Musik aus dem Computer .
In 1973 the band Faithful Breath recorded their first LP Fading Beauty with Martin Hömberg in the recording studio at the cathedral . In 1976 he produced the LP Volkslieder I from the folk duo Zupfgeigenhansel . Martin Hömberg also produced in October 1979 for BAP as the de facto production manager and “obstetrician” their debut LP Wolfgang Niedecken's BAP rocks other Cologne Leeder . Together with the first line-up of the BAP band, he received a gold record in May 2013 for 260,000 units of this production sold. In 1980 he was co-producer of the Gina X. Project, style "Ultra Disco", with chart placements in Austria and Canada. He is the sole composer of Feuerwerk (1986), a solo hit by Stephan Remmler (“Trio”).
With the ambient ensemble “Opera To Relax” he had international successes. a. Placement in 1st place by Apple I-Tunes USA.
For eight years, Hömberg taught as a lecturer in music realization and music technology at the jazz seminar at the Cologne University of Music .
From 1992 until his death he was the composer and producer of a series of commissioned compositions for Westdeutscher Rundfunk, including Colors of Water and Ambient Africa (live in the broadcasting hall of the WDR). In connection with the work for the WDR there was a close cooperation with the studio for sound design.
Hömberg has authored specialist journals on music production, music technology, sound reinforcement, media and system technology, and also authored specialist books in the fields of recording, musical sound design and live sound. He was a member of the Association of German Tonmeister (VDT).
One of his last projects was the scenic multimedia revue Nirvana Boulevard , a mixture of dance theater ( Butoh -Tanz) and Multimedia - Performance . The topic is the precarious state of planet earth and people in the year 2213.
Hömberg trained Shotokan Karate and in 1990 passed the 1st Dan exam with Hideo Ochi.

- Grand Prix du Disque (France) as the producer of a double LP with Bolivian folklore
