Martin Heepe

Martin Heepe (born May 21, 1887 in Leinde ; † 1961 ) was a German Africanist .

Life

He studied in Leipzig , Halle an der Saale , Erlangen and Berlin , then from 1908 to 1910 at the Berlin University philosophy as well as Assyrian, Syrian, Arabic and Ethiopian. He passed the first state examination in theology in 1908 and the second state examination in 1910 and then worked as a research assistant in the seminar for colonial languages ​​at the University of Hamburg until 1921 (1920–1921 private lecturer for African languages). From 1921 worked at the Prussian State Library in Berlin. At the Berlin University the lectureship for East African languages ​​was occupied by him in 1924.
