Martin Hofbauer (historian)

Martin Hofbauer is a German officer ( lieutenant colonel i. G.) and military historian .

Life

Hofbauer joined the Bundeswehr in 1989 . From 1989 to 1992 he trained as an officer with the mountain troops. He then studied history at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg (MA). From 1996 to 2001 it was used in various ways in the company. After he was a research assistant at the Professorship for Medieval History at the Helmut Schmidt University, he started working for Klaus Arnold at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2005 with the dissertation Education and Structure of Dominance and Property Relationships of the Passau Monastery in the 13th and 14th centuries (geographically, economically and socially), depicted on the Passau land registers for Dr. phil. PhD.

From 2005 to 2007 he was S3 and deputy battalion commander. In 2007/08 he took part in the 46th General Staff Service / Admiral Staff Service course at the Bundeswehr Leadership Academy (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. Since 2008 he has been a research assistant at the Military History Research Office (MGFA) and the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr (ZMSBw) in Potsdam. From 2010 to 2012 he was head of the operational support module, and in 2013 he took over the operational support area in the operational department. From 2014 to 2016 he was a consultant in the Politics department of the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. Since 2017 he has been Head of the Management Department at the ZMSBw.
