Martin Horstmeier (born April 1, 1929 in Stockhausen ) is a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Horstmeier was born the son of a farmer. After attending school, he completed an agricultural training at the agricultural school in Lübbecke and the German farmer's college in Fredeburg . He passed the master craftsman's examination in 1955, then worked in agriculture and took over his parents' farm in 1965.

In addition, Horstmeier was involved in the rural youth , from 1956 to 1960 chairman of the district youth in Lübbecke and from 1959 to 1967 regional chairman of the rural youth Westphalia -Lippe. Since 1964 he was initially deputy, from 1968 to 1972 he was federal chairman of the rural youth. From 1985 to 1994 he was chairman of the agricultural district association Minden -Lübbecke.

Political party

Horstmeier joined the CDU, joined the Junge Union and was elected to the state board of the JU Westphalia in 1964. Since 1966 he was chairman of the district agriculture committee of the CDU Ostwestfalen-Lippe.

MP

Horstmeier was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1983 and from December 3, 1986, when he replaced the late MP Peter Milz , until 1987. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1984 to 1989 he was a council member of the city of Lübbecke.
