Peter Milz (born December 7, 1934 in Mechernich ; † November 26, 1986 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Milz learned the profession of plasterer in which he also passed the master craftsman examination and later worked as an entrepreneur. He lived in Marmagen with his wife and four daughters . Peter Milz was a lieutenant colonel in the reserve and a Kolping brother.

Party affiliation

Milz joined the CDU in 1958, joined the Junge Union (JU) and was chairman of the Schleiden JU from 1963 to 1969 . From 1972 to 1985 he was chairman of the CDU district association Euskirchen . In 1983 he was elected to the regional executive committee of the CDU Rhineland , of which he was a member until his death.

MP

Milz was a council member of the municipality of Marmagen and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there. From 1964 to 1971 he was a member of the Schleiden district and from 1972 to 1986 a member of the Euskirchen district . In the 1972 federal election he was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he belonged until his death. In parliament he represented the constituency of Bergheim from 1972 to 1980 and then the constituency of Euskirchen - Erftkreis II . From 1976 to 1980 he was also a member of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe . Peter Milz became known nationwide through the proposal to elect Franz Josef Strauss from the CSU as a joint candidate for the candidacy for chancellor.

Public offices

Milz was the last district administrator in the Schleiden district and, in this role, shaped the merger with the Euskirchen district in 1971.

Honors

On September 12, 1979, Milz was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. The local community of Marmagen honored him in 2005 by naming a street (Peter-Milz-Straße).
