Hermann Karl Hubert von Schlechtendal (born January 11, 1859 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia , † November 7, 1920 in Paderborn ) was district administrator for the Schleiden district from 1895 to 1906 and then for the Mülheim am Rhein district until 1919 .

Life and career

Von Schlechtendal was a descendant of a Prussian family who was raised to the Prussian nobility on October 14, 1786 in Berlin. His father was the Protestant major Hermann von Schlechtendal, his mother the Catholic Louise, née Risse.

After attending a grammar school and then studying law , Schlechtendals was sworn in as a court trainee on July 21, 1883 . He continued his practical legal training at the Salzkotten District Court , but then switched to the Prussian administrative service on August 21, 1885 and appointed as a government trainee . There he found employment with the Royal Prussian Governments in Gumbinnen and then Osnabrück .

By decree of February 16, 1895 Schlechtendal was finally commissioned with the administration of the Schleiden district. He started work ten days later, on February 26th. He received the definitive appointment as Schleiden District Administrator on September 18 of the same year. During his tenure there, the Urft Dam was built from 1900 to 1904 . Also, initially on a provisional basis, on December 1, 1906, the contract with the Mülheim am Rhein district followed. He stayed there after his final appointment on May 29, 1907 until his retirement on February 1, 1919.

The Catholic and doctorate in law Hermann von Schlechtendal married Antonie Hesse (born September 8, 1866 in Paderborn) on September 24, 1891 in Paderborn, daughter of the main owner of the Lippspringe baths, Joseph Heinrich Hermann Hesse, and his wife Bertha, née Wintersbach.
