Martin Kaupp (born July 7, 1962 in Stuttgart ) is a German chemist and professor at the TU Berlin .

Life

Kaupp studied chemistry at the University of Stuttgart and did his doctorate at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg under Paul von Ragué Schleyer . Following a postdoctoral stay at the Université de Montréal , he completed his habilitation in 1997 at the University of Stuttgart. In 1999 he was appointed Professor of Chemistry at the University of Würzburg , before becoming Professor of Theoretical Chemistry - Quantum Chemistry at the TU Berlin in 2010 . He is a member of the Unifying Concepts in Catalysis (UniCat) cluster of excellence .

Kaupp deals with the development of theoretical methods and algorithms of modern density functional theory as well as applications that range from bioinorganic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry to organic materials and bioradicals. The calculation of spectroscopic parameters of NMR and EPR and the consideration of relativistic effects play an essential role.
