Martin Lätzel

Martin Lätzel (* 1970 in Essen ) is a Roman Catholic theologian , publicist and director of the Schleswig-Holstein State Library in Kiel.

Life

Martin Lätzel studied theology and history at the Ruhr University Bochum from 1991 to 1996; at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the Ruhr-Universität he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD. For many years he was involved in public relations and educational conception at the federal level for the German Scouting Association of Sankt Georg . Since 1996 he has been working for the Catholic Church, among other things as a prison chaplain, diocesan youth chaplain and BDKJ- Preses; most recently head of the Pastoral Office Schleswig-Holstein and representative of the Archdiocese of Hamburg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein .

From 2008 to 2013 he was the association director of the state association of adult education centers in Schleswig-Holstein. Since 2013 Lätzel has worked in the cultural administration of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Schleswig-Holstein , focusing on the coordination of strategic cultural policy.

In May 2019 he took over the management of the Schleswig-Holstein State Library in Kiel, which is to be expanded in the future to include a center for digitization and culture and the digital house of state history .
