Martin Latka (football player)
Martin Latka (born April 23, 1982 ) is a former German football player .
career
Latka's American football career began in 1998 as a Frankfurt Pirates player . With the team he competed in the regional league until 2002, the 1.90-meter man was used as a running back and linebacker . From 2002 to 2004 he played for the second division Hanau Hornets , in 2004 the Frankfurt Galaxy team signed him, Latka made the leap into the NFL Europe . There he was part of the squad in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In June 2004 he lost with Frankfurt in the World Bowl against Berlin Thunder, In 2005 he suffered a serious knee injury. At the end of May 2006 he won the NFL Europe final against the Amsterdam Admirals with the Galaxy . In the NFL Europe, Latka got playing time on the positions fullback , running back and tight end .
In 2008 he was one of the founding members of Frankfurt Universe and rose with the team over the years from the regional league to the top German division, the GFL . Latka, who works in banking , has appeared on television shows in which he walked through windows in football attire and set world records for this. After the end of the 2016 season, he retired as a player from competitive football. Latka then worked for the Frankfurt team as a member of the coaching staff and took care of the linebackers.
