Martin Legner

Martin Legner (born December 17, 1961 in Tyrol ) is an Austrian wheelchair tennis player . In 2004 he reached his best position in the world rankings with third place.

Life

In 1988 Legner became paraplegic due to a paragliding accident . After rehabilitation in 1989, he started playing wheelchair tennis. He is right-handed and prefers the clay court.

He has participated in six Paralympic Games so far . In 1992 he reached the quarterfinals, in which he was defeated by Randy Snow . In 1996 he reached the second round in singles and in the quarterfinals in doubles. At the 2000 Games he reached the quarter-finals again in doubles, while he lost to Kai Schrameyer in singles in the bronze game . In 2004 he did not get past the quarter-finals in the individual, in 2008 he failed in the second round. In 2012 he was eliminated in the second round.

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters he won the doubles competition in 2001, 2003 and 2004. In singles he reached the final in 1999, which he lost to Robin Ammerlaan .

Martin Legner is married and has three children.
