Martin Lienhard

Martin Lienhard (born July 2, 1946 in Basel ) is a Swiss Romance studies and professor emeritus for Romance studies at the University of Zurich.

Scientific career

From 1964 to 1972 Lienhard studied Spanish and French Philology and Islamic Studies at the Universities of Basel, Salamanca, Coimbra and Geneva.

He received his doctorate in 1981 from the University of Geneva with a thesis on José María Arguedas ; From 1985 to 1986 he taught as a visiting professor at the Free University in Berlin . From 1986 to 1989 he was professor at the University of Göttingen for Hispanic American and Brazilian literature ; From 1989 to 2011 he was Professor of Spanish and Portuguese Literature at the Romance Department of the University of Zurich . Lienhard's most quoted work is La voz y su huella .
