Martin Mejstřík

Martin Mejstřík (born May 30, 1962 in Kolín ) is a Czech civil rights activist and politician .

Life

Mejstřík was active in politics and journalism before and during the Velvet Revolution in 1989, which led to the overthrow of the then ruling communist regime . He is considered one of the "leading personalities" of that time.

From 2002 to 2008 Mejstřík was a member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic . He is an honorary member of the City Council of the First District of Prague .

Mejstřík is one of the signatories of the Declaration on the Crimes of Communism from 2010.
