Martin Oeggerli

Martin Oeggerli (born March 7, 1974 in Riedholz ) is a Swiss molecular biologist and science photographer .

Life

He studied biology at the University of Basel from 1994 to 2000 and obtained his diploma in 2002 from David G. Senn . In 2005 he did his doctorate with Guido Sauter at the University of Basel in the field of molecular pathology . Since 2006 he has been working in the research department of the University Hospital Basel as part of a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and is also a consultant for a laboratory specializing in scanning electron microscopy (PTU GmbH).

Oeggerli has made a name for himself with spectacular presentations of scientific facts under the pseudonym Micronaut . He prefers to stage his objects using scanning electron microscopy . Photos of him have so far appeared in: National Geographic, GEO, Focus, Nature Publishing Group, Cell, Reader's Digest, Schweizer Fernsehen SF1, NBC.
