Martin Půta (born September 13, 1971 in Liberec ) is a Czech politician of the Starostové pro Liberecký kraj party ( GermanMayor of Liberec ). He has been the Hejtmann of the Liberec Region since November 2012 and the Deputy Chairman of the Association of Counties in the Czech Republic since April 2014 . He is also the chairman of his party in Liberec County. In the 2017 House of Representatives election , Půta won a mandate, which he surrendered a month later. Půta was mayor of the city of Hrádek nad Nisou and chairman of the Neisse Euroregion .

Life

In 1989 Půta graduated from high school FX Šaldy in Liberec . From 1992 to 2002 he worked as a production manager in a company in his home town of Hrádek nad Nisou. He still lives there today with his Polish wife and two children.

Půta studied international relations and public administration at the Metropolitan University in Prague .

In 2002 Martin Půta, who was part of the electoral association Hrádek potřebuje změny! (German: Hrádek needs changes! ) was active, elected mayor of the city of Hrádek nad Nisou. He also defended this post in 2006 and 2010. Půta has been a member of the Council of the Neisse Euroregion since 2005, was elected deputy chairman in 2007 and then chairman in 2011.

Půta has been a representative in the Liberec District Council since 2007. From 2007 to 2011 he was the chairman of the Association of Municipalities of the Liberec Region and is now its deputy chairman. From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the party for an open society , since 2008 he has been a member of the political movement Starostové pro Liberecký kraj (German: Mayor of the Liberec District ), for which he was a candidate in the 2012 regional elections for the post of Hejtman of the Liberec district. He won the election and took office on November 27, 2012. The elections were accompanied by confusing statements and a boycott that came from the competition. Due to his new office, he resigned from his position as Mayor of the city of Hrádek nad Nisou on December 19, 2012. His successor was Josef Horinka .

In March 2014, he resigned from the Starostové pro Liberecký kraj party and joined the Starostové a nezávislí (STAN; German:  Mayor and Independent ) party. The reason for this was a Czech law which forbids membership in two different political organizations; But Půta wanted to run nationwide for the chairman of the new party. On March 28, 2014, he was elected chairman of the STAN party with all 160 votes at the party meeting in Prague. On April 30, 2014, he was also elected Deputy Chairman of the Association of Counties in the Czech Republic .

In the 2017 elections to the Czech Republic's House of Representatives, Půta won a seat as a candidate for his STAN party in the Liberec region. He was able to unite 4470 of the votes and thus became a member of parliament. On November 24, 2017, he announced that he was stepping down from the House of Representatives in order to continue devoting himself to regional politics. Petr Pávek will succeed him in parliament. On November 6th of the same year he announced that he was resigning his membership in STAN and returning to the Starostové pro Liberecký kraj party . A day later he was elected chairman of the party.
