Martin Schumacher (historian)

Martin Schumacher (born November 17, 1939 in Beuel ) is a German historian .

After studying history in 1966 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Schumacher was awarded a doctorate by researching the trips abroad by German entrepreneurs between 1750 and 1851. phil. PhD. In 1980 he succeeded Alfred Milatz as Secretary General of the Bonn- based Commission for the History of Parliamentarism and Political Parties, and held this position until he retired in 2007.

Schumacher's research area is the history of parties and parliamentarism.
