Martin Seidl (politician)

Martin Seidl (born April 10, 1934 in Holzhausen near Teisendorf ) is a German CSU politician . From 1984 to 2002 he was District Administrator of the Berchtesgadener Land district .

Life

After finishing high school in Traunstein, Seidl attended hotel management school. At the age of 27 he took over the management of his parents' hotel. Agriculture with up to 500 pigs, 30 to 40 cows and horses continued until the 1960s. Martin Seidl and his wife have three daughters and a son and now have six grandchildren.

Political career

Martin Seidl was mayor there when Holzhausen was still an independent municipality. After the merger with Teisendorf in 1972, he was elected second mayor in Teisendorf. After the death of District Administrator Andreas Birnbacher in 1984 shortly after his re-election, Martin Seidl was elected District Administrator. In 1995 he became the founding father and first chairman of the EuRegio Salzburg - Berchtesgadener Land - Traunstein . In 2002 he left office.

Awards

Martin Seidl was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1994. In 1998 he received the Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Salzburg, in 2002 the Bavarian Environmental Medal and in 2003 the Bavarian Order of Merit .
