Martin Stephan (writer)

Martin Stephan (born August 10, 1945 in Koethen ) is a German writer .

Life

Martin Stephan grew up in Koethen . After a broken apprenticeship , he worked as a steel and transport worker in the chemical industry in Wolfen and Leuna and from 1972 to 1975 in a Berlin printing company. Since 1975 he has lived as a freelance writer in Berlin . In 1987 he took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt .

Martin Stephan is the author of short stories and radio plays .

Martin Stephan was a member of the GDR Writers' Association ; he is now a member of the Association of German Writers . In 1978 he received the art prize of the Free German Trade Union Federation , in 1982 the radio play prize of the GDR radio and in 1995 a grant from the Prussian Sea Trade Foundation .
