Martin Gotthilf Striebel (born September 22, 1929 in Geislingen an der Steige ; † November 4, 2008 in Göppingen ) was a German church musician, hymn poet, choirmaster and pastor of the Württemberg regional church.

Life

Martin Striebel came from a family of craftsmen from Salach . After training as a carpenter, he became a deacon at the Karlshöhe Ludwigsburg , where his musical talent enabled him to attend the University of Church Music in Esslingen am Neckar. There he completed a degree in church music with the B exam.

As the successor to Hermann Stern, he held the position of the regional youth singing ward of the Evangelical regional church in Württemberg for eight years from 1959. During this time he worked as a collaborator and editor on various song and hymn book editions. In addition to a choir book for mixed voices, a melody for the evening song “Before the sun sinks” was created .

From 1968 onwards, Martin Striebel switched to the parish office via the second educational path. He served first as parish administrator in Hebsack and Rohrbronn , then as parish priest in the Württemberg parishes of Baiersbronn , Ostfildern -Parksiedlung and Roßwag .

During the division of Germany he was in lively exchange with central German church musicians, such as B. the Eisenach cantor Herbert Peter .

Martin Striebel was married to the church musician Dorothea Striebel, b. Ziegler and is the father of four sons.
