Kurt Rommel

Kurt Rommel (born December 20, 1926 in Kirchheim unter Teck ; † March 5, 2011 in Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt ) was a pastor of the Württemberg Evangelical Church , hymn poet and spiritual author .

Career

Kurt Rommel officiated as parish priest in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance and in Villingen-Schwenningen . He was a youth pastor in Stuttgart , where he wrote and composed numerous New Spiritual Songs . He founded in February 1962 as a " cinema worship " rather than the organ played in the cinema a band. From 1974 Rommel was theological editor, later until 1992 he was editor- in- chief of the Evangelical Community Gazette for Württemberg . In addition to numerous book publications, also author of a series of records. Most recently he lived in Weil der Stadt .

Rommel wrote about 800 songs and 1000 canons . Six of them have found their way into the Evangelical Hymnal , eight are recorded in the former Catholic Praise to God (1975 edition).

He is also often represented in Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian and Swiss hymn books. In 2007, a songbook with a representative selection was published under the title Fest verurzelt .
