Under Viennese law, an alcohol ban for dog walkers denotes the ban on consuming alcohol for dog walkers when they are out with dogs in public, as well as a blood alcohol limit for the blood alcohol content. The aim is to protect third parties from attacks by dogs if the dog handlers are not sufficiently reaffirmed to cope with the situation due to the alcohol consumption or their blood alcohol content.

According to a survey by the Austrian daily newspaper today in September 2018, 31% of those questioned are in favor of the alcohol ban for owners of listed dogs, 34% are of the opinion that this should apply to all dog breeds, 33% are against.
