Martin Strohhäcker

Martin Strohhäcker (* 1959 ) is a German organist.

He first studied at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart with Werner Jacob (organ), Kenneth Gilbert (harpsichord), Lieselotte Gierth and André Marchand (piano).

This was followed by organ studies at the “Conservatoire Nationale de Musique Paris” with Marie-Claire Alain and at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona” with Montserrat Torrent .

Master classes with Luigi Tagliavini , Harald Vogel , Ernst Köhler , Daniel Roth and others followed. The scholarship holder of the “ Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes ” and the “ German Academic Exchange Service ” won the 1981 International Organ Week Competition in Nuremberg and in 1983 received the “Premièr Prix avec félicitationes du jury” from the Conservatoire de Paris.

After finishing teaching in Barcelona , where he has been teaching at the “Conservatorio Superior de Música” since 1987, he was appointed district cantor in Neuenbürg in 1988 and worked as a lecturer for artistic organ playing and improvisation at the Evangelical College for Church Music in Esslingen .

In 1994 Martin Strohhäcker was appointed professor for artistic organ playing and improvisation at the Dresden University of Church Music . Since 1995 he has been the prorector of the Dresden University of Church Music.

Since 1997 he has been a member of the executive committee and since 2000 a board member of the Gottfried Silbermann Society in Freiberg.

Since 2000 he has been an organist at the Dreikönigskirche Dresden-Neustadt . In addition to leading master classes, Martin Strohhäcker gives concerts at home and abroad and also works on various jurors at international competitions.
