The Martin Valley is a valley on the north coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . On the Barff Peninsula , it runs in a northeast-southwest direction between Rookery Bay and Cumberland East Bay .
The valley was originally known as the Three Lakes Valley , which today has its equivalent on Signy Island in the South Orkney Archipelago . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1988 after Stephen John Martin (* 1955) head of the British Antarctic Survey station in Grytviken from 1980 to 1982.
