Martin Wolfs

Martin Wolfs (born February 17, 1932 in Vlijmen , Netherlands ) is a former Dutch road cyclist.

Athletic career

From 1952 to 1956 the Wolfs drove as an amateur . Third place in the Dutch one-day race Omloop in Kempen in 1952 was his first podium finish . In the same race in 1953, he was able to improve to second place. Also in 1953 he took part in the eight van Chaam road criterion , where he achieved another third place. In 1954, too, Wolfs only came out on top in local bike races. In the one-day race Ronde van Noord-Holland he came in second, a third place he achieved on the second stage of the three-stage trip Omloop van de Zes Provinciën, in which he reached tenth place in the overall standings. When he took part in the Ronde van Zuid-Holland in 1955, Wolfs won another second place. His only victory in a major race he achieved in 1956 in the three-country stage race Internationale Friedensfahrt . On the 206-kilometer stage from East Berlin to Leipzig , he won the sprint out of a group of eleven people after an average speed of 37.4 km / h. He finished the peace drive as the best Dutchman in seventh place.

In 1957 Wolfs moved to the professional paddock for a year with a contract with the Dutch cycling team Magneet , without achieving any significant success. He then worked as a bricklayer in his hometown of Vlijmen .
