Martin Zafirow (born December 26, 1973 ) is a former Bulgarian football player .

Career

Zafirow played in Bulgaria for CSKA Sofia and Spartak Varna before moving to the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV in the 1997/98 season. He made his debut at the Hanseatic League on matchday two when he was substituted on at the beginning of the second half. The game against VfL Wolfsburg ended 1: 1. For Zafirow, the game ended prematurely, he saw the red card after an assault in the 87th minute of the game. His career at HSV was as short as his first appearance. After receiving the red card, he did not play any more games and after only one year moved back to Bulgaria to Lokomotiv Sofia . He then played for Spartak Warna, in Greece for six months with Akratitos Liosion , for Lokomotive Plovdiv and Cherno More Varna .
