Martin Zwicker

Martin Zwicker (born February 27, 1987 in Koethen ) is a German hockey player .

He learned to play hockey from his father, Detlef Zwicker , the former 96-time GDR national hockey player, and in the Cöthener HC 02 . He currently plays for the Bundesliga club Berliner Hockey Club in the 1st Bundesliga. In 2008 he was used for the first time with the German national team on an international trip to South Africa. On August 3, 2009 he was appointed to the 18-man squad for the European Hockey Championship from August 22 to 30 in Amsterdam. Here the German national team lost the final 3: 5 against England. He was part of the 18-strong German squad of the 12th World Hockey Championship in New Delhi , India. The team also reached the final there and was runner-up after a 2-1 defeat against Australia. On August 23, 2013 he completed his 100th A international match in the semi-finals of the European Field Hockey Championship in Belgium in a 5-3 victory. In 2016 Martin Zwicker was a member of the national field hockey team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . He won the bronze medal with the team after a 1: 1 (and 4: 3 in the shoot out) against the Netherlands and thus completed his 183rd international match.

For winning the bronze medal, he was awarded the silver bay leaf on November 1, 2016 .

Martin Zwicker studies sports science at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
