Martin of Oliva

Martin von Oliva (born July 28, 1738 in Aachen , † December 31, 1816 there ) was aldermen and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Life

Martin was born on July 28, 1738 in the afternoon in Aachen and was baptized the following morning in his parents' house on Pley (today Seilgraben 32) with the name Johann Nepomuk Martin Franz Xaver. He was the tenth child of the multiple mayor Alexander Theodor von Oliva (1691–1767) and his wife Agnes Leonharda Katharina von Bodden (1707–1770).

It is not known when Martin von Oliva was elected lay judge. In 1763 he joined the star guild, the professional representation of the Aachen lay judges. In 1767 he is documented for the only time as a lay judge.

On October 4, 1778 Martin married Maria Anna Theresie Christine Magdalena von Lommessem (1751-1832), whose brother Johann Wilhelm (1743-1810) was also a lay judge and was elected mayor in 1804 under the French occupation of Aachen .

In 1787 Martin von Oliva was elected mayor of the aldermen. He died in Aachen on December 31, 1816.
